The Last of Us seems like a franchise doomed to controversy. The Last of Us Part 2 leaks were obviously much more damaging as they messed up a specific scene that set up the entire game, but The Last of Us Part 1 has had its share of controversy.
Even before it was confirmed, many wondered if it was necessary considering The Last of Us Remastered, and now many are debating whether the confirmed remake of The Last of Us Part 1 worth its price of $70 dollars.
Many have accused it of being a money grab, even with what has been shown. It’s clear that this is a ground-up recreation of The Last of Us, but the recent leak that led to a seemingly hasty announcement hasn’t gone down well with its reception, either. Still, there are plenty of improvements fans can look forward to.
Beyond the graphical improvements, there is also the inclusion of special features for the PS5 DualSense, such as feedback haptic. It is said that each weapon of The Last of Us Part 1 features unique feedback as well as the workbench with the various new animations for Joel’s weapon and gear.
Several moments involving jumping, landing, fighting, etc. will use this feature to make them more immersive, but one moment is perhaps sweeter than the rest of the more iconic feedback elements.
The scene of the giraffe is one of the most memorable moments in the game, in which Joel and Ellie encounter a herd of giraffes and manage to pet one. When players pet the giraffe, the DualSense will have a slight vibration to mimic the feeling of contact with the creature. Instead of gritty realism, it’s a moment of peace made more immersive.
It will be interesting to see how these features, as well as other PS5 improvements, make The Last of Us Part 1 better and more immersive. At least September isn’t too far away, so fans will know very soon.
