The Iron Lynx team has officially presented its project for the 2022 season of the WEC. The Italian structure will once again compete with two units of the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in the LMGTE-Am class, repeating the competitive scheme of last season. Thus, Ferrari #60 will feature a 100% Italian lineupwhile the second structure vehiclewith number #85, will compete again under the banner of the Iron Dames project and will be piloted by three female pilots. The project will also reach the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).
The Ferrari #60 will wear a livery in shades of yellow and will be captained by Giancarlo Fisichella. The veteran Italian driver has competed for the last three seasons in the Ferrari 488 GTE backed by Thomas Flohr’s company and managed by AF Corse, so beyond the team change he continues in the LMGTE-Am category. The former Formula 1 driver leads a project in which will share a car with his compatriots Matteo Cressoni and Claudio Schiavoni. Both have already competed with the team in 2021 alongside Andrea Piccini, team manager.
For its part, the Ferrari #85 belongs to the ‘Iron Dames’ project and sports a decoration identical to that of its sister car, but in pink tones. In the commitment that the Iron Lynx team maintains to promote female talent, this second vehicle of the team will once again have a 100% female lineup. Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting and Sarah Bovy will be in charge of alternating at their controls. The three repeat with respect to last season, although they only coincided in Monza and Le Mans within the movements that occurred in the team.
The project with two Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in the World Endurance Championship will have its projection in the European Le Mans Series. In fact, the team will also compete with two GTEs in the continental competition, with a very similar competitive scheme. The first car line-up is once again entirely Italian with Davide Rigon replacing Fisichella as companion to Cressoni and Schiavoni. For his part, female roster remains unchanged at ELMS.
«We are delighted to announce our line-ups for 2022, with some very exciting additions and continuity from several of our pilots. I think the combination we’ve drawn can help push the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames projects a step further next year. We had an incredible 2021 and we approach the next campaign in the same spirit. We know that it will be difficult to repeat the successes of last year, but that is our great objective for this season” he pointed out. andrea picani.
