Fabio Quartararo will continue with Yamaha for two more seasons after the contract renewal announced within the framework of the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia. The Japanese firm thus confirmed an alliance that everyone had taken for granted in the paddock for weeks. The good results of the reigning world champion, who seems to be able to squeeze the maximum performance from the YZR-M1have convinced the directors that their continuity was the best for the team.
Good results are a constant since the Frenchman joined the official team in 2021. The highlight of Quartararo’s career in the fretboard brand is undoubtedly the world title achieved last season. In addition to that, the ‘Devil’ has 6 wins and 14 podiums with the factory team. He had previously gone through the SRT Yamaha where he had also won 3 victories and 10 podiums. A great trajectory that the leaders of the Japanese structure have been able to value.
fabio quartararo currently leads the general classification of the queen category with an 8-point advantage over his immediate pursuer, the Spanish Aleix Espargaró. A very different position from the one occupied by his boxing partner. Franco Morbidelli is nineteenth overall, with seventh place at Mandalika being his best result of the year so far. This low performance, in which the performance of the motorcycle also has a lot to do with it, has sown the Doubts about the Italian who could see his future at Yamaha compromised.
Lin Jarvisgeneral director of Yamaha Racing, has valued the figure of the 23-year-old rider: «We are very happy to have reached an agreement with Fabio for 2023 and beyond.. We brought him into the factory team last year knowing he is a special talent, but even our expectations were exceeded. In Fabio’s first season and a half we have reaped many successes. We know that he will always put all his effort, and we have assured him that Yamaha will do the same and we will invest in future developments so that together we can fight for MotoGP titles for years to come.”
fabio quartararo He was happy to continue in the team that always believed in him: «I am very happy to announce that I will stay with Yamaha for two more years. Yamaha believed in me from the beginning, and that’s something I don’t take lightly.. But with that said, this new deal was a great decision. I’m at a great point in my career, so I took a little more time to be sure. I believe in the project and I feel that Yamaha is really motivated. Now that we have confirmed our decision to continue together, we can fully focus on the current season.”
