A sequel that surely no one expected could be in the works for switch. According to a leak, 1-2-Switch, the collection of mini-games that launched alongside the console in 2017, is getting a sequel. This is somewhat strange considering that the launch title for the console was meant to introduce the features of the new hardware, specifically the Joy-cons and their rumble function.
This new information comes from Zippo, a trusted source for news and predictions on Nintendo. Earlier this week he posted on his blog that Nintendo is developing a sequel to the game. He also shared his thoughts on why Nintendo would make a sequel, stating that the original is “one of the most boring games” he’s ever played.
Players could choose from over 20 mini-games with fun stuff like a Wild West duel simulation, a cow milking competition, a sword fight, a dance with all hands and more. These games allowed gamers to become more comfortable with the Joy-cons, however, almost five years later, most Joy-con users switch has become accustomed to using the already familiar Joy-con.
Also, needless to say, the original game has a Metacritic score of 58 with “generally unfavorable reviews.” It did sell pretty well though with over 3.18 million copies sold as of December 2019. Still, it seems like an odd choice for Nintendo to put energy into a sequel that no one really asked for or expected. But hey, if you’re itching to milk cows on the new Switch OLED, then this is wonderful news for you. It is possible that the sequel is intended for all the people who got a switch last year, having already surpassed Wii sales.
For now, this information has not been confirmed by Nintendo. It seems that we will have to wait to see if this leak turns out to be true.
