One of the most awaited moments has arrived. In a few minutes, the world presentation of the fourth electric model of the German firm, the new Volkswagen ID, will begin. Buzz 2022. A minivan and a commercial variant that will be offered from the second half of the year, with different options and high autonomy.
Months of testing, production mules and prototypes spotted in hundreds of spy photos, all of which have come to an end. The new Volkswagen ID. Buzz 2022 is about to be unveiled, a world presentation that you can follow live with us, at Motor.es and learn first-hand all the details of what is Volkswagen’s electric room.
But also the first of new generation of the commercial vehicle division. This has been the one that has really led the way in the development of the zero-emission heir to the Bulli. The new ID. Buzz has preserved the aesthetic essence of T1, although adapted to the most modern times and to the design language of the sub-brand that sells the electric cars of the Wolfsburg giant. Its LED headlights are joined by a light bar, in a very wedge-shaped front like the original model, and with light groups that cross the tailgate transversely.

The two new Volkswagen electrics arrive, the ID. Buzz and Charge
The ID. Buzz can boast ample interior space, with a long wheelbase, offering interior capacity for five passengers distributed in two rows of seats and with a volume of luggage that reaches no less than 1,121 liters. Considered as the replacement of the legendary Volkswagen Sharan, the German firm gave up a new T7 as a purely commercial model, betting everything on electricity. This is the main reason why the new Multivan is only offered as a passenger model, since the MEB platform does not allow the development of models with a high load weight.
The substitute is called Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo, and it will hardly differ from the passenger model due to the paneled sides, instead of glass. The rest will not present draft differences. Not even in the modern dashboard design, which will feature a small screen behind the steering wheel for the instrument cluster and a large touch screen in the center console for the infotainment and multimedia section, in addition to the different configurations of the model.
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz will follow the same line of mechanical versions as the rest of the electric ones, with a very compact block on the rear axle, the same 150 kW unit known until now, or 204 hp, so the offer will have rear propulsion and all-wheel drive adding one more electric unit to the front axle. The new model, which will be manufactured at the Hannover factory, will have the most powerful lithium-ion battery to date, the 77 kWh of net capacity, with a maximum autonomy of close to 600 kilometers. The order books will open in May – in Germany, in Europe, in the summer – with the launch planned for autumn.
