FIAT has kicked off the marketing of its new and long-awaited SUV. The FIAT Pulse it is already for sale in Brazil. A model that is called upon to play a leading role in the South American territory and, more specifically, in MERCOSUR. A new generation vehicle that will fight in a segment where the competition is voracious. Now that the reservation book has been officially opened, the brand has revealed all the details.
Developed and produced in Brazil, the new Pulse stands out for its design, technological equipment and the mechanical proposals it brings with it. It is supported by the new MLA platform which allows, according to FIAT, to reach new standards in terms of safety and tuning of the chassis. A model that, since the development process began, there was talk of a clear reference to the FIAT Argo, one of the brand’s best sellers in Brazil and other South American countries.
The design of the new FIAT Pulse
The new Pulse is the fruit of the work of the Stellantis Design Center team in South America. Adopt the new FIAT design language and, depending on the brand, it sports an attractive and modern image while its more robust and adventurous side stands out. At the front, it stands out for the wide grille in which the new FIAT logo is integrated. The grill connects directly with optical groups in which LED technology is used. The bumper has bulky fenders. Some fenders that run through the entire lower part of the body.
The side view brings out the SUV essence of the new Pulse. The wheel arches have a great presence as do the roof bars. By the way, the alloy wheels have a unique design in the different versions that make up the range. And ending our tour of the exterior at the rear, in addition to the bumper, we must point out the very enveloping taillights that taper towards the inside of the tailgate. A gate on which the brand’s logo is also found.
TO level of customization, the Pulse launches two new and exclusive colors: Amalfi Blue and Strato Gray. To offer a significant number of combinations, certain body colors can be combined with the black or Impetus gray roof.
The interior and technology of the new FIAT Pulse
Leaving aside the outside, if we venture into the passenger compartment of the new PulseIf we take the more equipped versions as a starting point, we will be surrounded by a technological and comfortable environment. Silver and gray tones help convey a more modern feel. In addition, FIAT has given many surfaces a smooth texture that is pleasant to the touch. It is also worth mentioning the seats upholstered in synthetic leather.
Once accommodated in the driving position, the 100% digital instrument panel
it is available for the most complete finishes. In addition, such instrumentation is combined with a 8.4 or 10.1 inch touch screen. A screen that acts as a «nerve center» to manage the infotainment system. By the way, it has a 4G internet connection.
The air conditioning module has a conventional configuration but is well integrated just below the central ventilation outlets. To all this we must add some USB type C connections and the numerous storage spaces that are scattered around the cabin.
FIAT also underlines the level of security offered by the new Pulse. The use of the MLA platform is, as we have pointed out previously, decisive. However, the equipment is key in this regard. It has high beam assistant, autonomous emergency braking, stability and traction control, emergency brake indication and multiple airbags.
The engines of the new FIAT Pulse
With regard to the mechanical section of the new Pulse, the offer will consist of two options. The access block is a 1.3-liter Flex gasoline engine with 98 hp and 129 Nm of maximum torque that can be associated with a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. This engine can also run on ethanol. In this case, the power is increased to 107 hp and 134 Nm.
The most interesting and performance alternative is a 1.0-liter Turbo 200 Flex engine with 125 hp and 200 Nm of maximum torque combined exclusively with a CVT automatic gearbox. Such a block can also work with ethanol. In this case, it reaches 130 hp and 200 Nm respectively. In the best of cases, the new Pulse can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 189 km / h.
