Fiat unveiled the opening of the world’s first car dealership in the metaverse. This platform will allow customers to set up, research and complete and purchase their vehicles from their homes, without having to physically go to dealers.
Interested people will be able to buy the flagship model, the 500 La Prima by Bocelli in the early stages of this dealership in the metaverse. The experience will be extended to other Fiat 500 models by early 2023.
The automotive brand clarified that at the moment this virtual distributor can only be entered in Italy, but that the digital experience would be extended to other markets in the course of the coming year.
How did Fiat develop a shop in the metaverse?
This virtual Fiat dealership was a collaborative effort with the companies Touchcast and Microsoft.
How does it work? The platform Metaverse-as-a-Service Touchcast uses the Microsoft cloud and does not require VR headsets, avatars, or any specialized hardware to enter the metaverse.
Customers can get 360-degree views of the car they’re interested in and get help from a voiced human salesperson in the Fiat Metaverse store. You could even take a “test drive” of Bocelli’s 500 La Prima on the roof of the Lingotto building in Turin, on the iconic La Pista 500.
Would you buy a car without seeing it physically before?
