Like other BWT sponsored drivers in the past, Fernando Alonso has turned to pink as the main color for his helmet this season in Formula 1 with Alpine. The Spanish explains the cause.
When BWT became the main sponsor of Force India, its pilots began to use a pink helmet that combined with the corporate image of the German brand dedicated to water technology.
And when the Silverstone-based team became Aston Martin, the pink was mostly gone but Sebastian Vettel wanted to keep it in his helmet for the 2021 season, also becoming an ambassador for the brand’s charitable and sustainable projects.
Now that Best Water Technology has partnered with Alpine, Fernando Alonso has picked up the baton from the German driver, wanting to explain to his followers the reason for the change and the importance of the message that the Spaniard intends to send with this new design.
“I am very enthusiastic about the whole project they have and I share many of their ideas, which is why I wanted to support them with this helmet,” says Fernando Alonso. “Everyone has their tastes and it is very difficult to please everyone, I know that I have had a helmet with iconic colors and that people recognize me by blue and yellowbut I think they don’t understand the meaning behind this change.”
To prevent this from happening, Alonso explained that he “really supports the actions that BWT is doing with plastic bottles, I know that it is something that we must stop, it is late, but it is never too late to improve the situation in our world. We have to stop this and clean up our oceans, because having a better world for everyone is very important.”.

There is no doubt that the planet is in a delicate situation as a result of pollution and the exploitation of its raw materials. What’s more, two-thirds of the world’s population do not have easy access to drinking water and BWT works in this sense, as Alonso recalls.
“Also have very interesting projects to offer safe and drinkable water in Africaespecially in some countries, where they are building buildings and fountains so that people can drink water,” he says in the video distributed by Alpine.
«I think that this work is the meaning of the helmet, of the design that I wear, and I am very proud to support this type of action. Sustainability is an issue that I take into account in everything I do, in the different companies or projectsespecially with Kimoa, where it has been a priority, and we all need to understand this, that we have a world and that we have to take care of it”, concludes the two-time world champion, who is also UNICEF Ambassador.
