Fast & Furious 10the first of the final three films in the franchise, It is not having the box office performance that was expected. And although in its entirety it is one of the most successful sagas in cinema, the latter is not working at all well.
From just 207 million dollars in its first installment to surpassing the billion dollar mark after the premiere of fast & furious 7, movies have us used to big box office numbers. But it seems that Fast & Furious 10 has not achieved its goal.
During its premiere in the United States, it has collected less that all the films of the franchise except the first, second and third installments, Fast & Furious: Tokyo Racewhich premiered in 2006.
Fast & Furious 10 it grossed “just” $67.5 million in the opening weekend. Below 70 million dollars of fast & furious 9 (2021), less than the almost 100 million dollars of fast & furious 8 (2017) and significantly below the $147.2 million opening gross of Fast & Furious 7 (2015).
The global box office Fast & Furious 10 it doesn’t improve either
The global box office Fast & Furious 10 It doesn’t get much better either. Yes, during its premiere it has collected more than fast & furious 9which had to deal with security measures in movie theaters due to the pandemic, but is significantly lower than fast & furious 8 *(2017).
The latter raised 433 million dollars during its first weekend, while Fast & Furious 10 earned $251.5 million. In addition, the box office of the franchise is increasingly dependent on the international market, with revenue coming from the United States less and less, as new films are released.
As with superheroes, the franchise fast & furious you may be suffering from fatigue that is surprising that it did not come sooner. Especially if we take into account the general theme of the saga, where the productions have to be more and more “to the beast” to maintain the interest of the audience. And that has a limit, which is increasingly obvious.
Fast & Furious 10 introduces Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) who pursues Dom Toretto to avenge the death of his father, Brazilian mobster Hernán Reyes. Throughout the movie the main character played by Vin Diesel has to protect his family and his friends from this new threat. Being the first of a closing trilogy, many characters from the saga return, including Dwayne Johnson who appears in the post-credits scene.
