‘Hatching’ has a synopsis that does not leave indifferent:
“12-year-old gymnast Tinja (Siiri Solalinna) is desperate to please her image-obsessed mother, whose popular blog ‘Lovely Everyday Life’ portrays her family’s idyllic existence as well-groomed suburban perfection. The story is based on an old Finnish fable, and has been brought to life with a cast consisting of the actors, Jani Volanen as father, Saija Lenten as a coach, together with Kingdom Nordin, Siiri Solalinna and Sophia Heikkilä. Movie monster brought to life by animatronics designer Gustav Högen (Star Wars and Jurassic World), while Conor O’Sullivan (Game of Thrones X-Men: First Class) in charge of makeup design.
‘Hatching’ is about parental pressure on kids who can’t achieve the perfection they yearn for and there’s a lot of blood and gore in the trailer. body horror wrapped in an aseptic aesthetic, promising to be one of the most disturbing horror movies of the year. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Hanna Bergholm and was written by Ilja Rautsi, and will be released by IFC Midnight on April 29 in the US.
