  • Facebook and Twitter have been chosen as the most hated social networks by young people, as revealed by a new survey
  • Only 2 percent of respondents chose these platforms
  • Now, Gen Z has Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram as their favorite social networks

Facebook and Twitter have been chosen as the most hated social networks by young people, a fact that could lead to the end of an era. Will it be possible?

Social networks arrived and, almost immediately, they changed everything; today, without a doubt, life would not be the same without the rise of sites like Facebook and Twitter. For better and for worse, depending on the approach you want to take, these platforms, today, are part of the daily lives of people around the world.

What began as a new way of interacting with friends and even meeting new people, became, over the years, a powerful platform for all kinds of content, which paved the way for the creation of more social networks .

In this way, over time we have seen the birth and growth of platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, TikTok, Telegram and many more, each with its own functions and, more importantly, with its own niche of users.

In that sense, and for a long time, Facebook and Twitter have been in charge of dominating the powerful market of social networks, but it seems that that is changing and, now, the new generations are adopting other social networks, leaving behind the that we could qualify as pioneers.

Survey

According to the report of Piper Sandler “Taking Stock With Teens”Young people -the so-called Generation Z-, have been blunt in selecting their favorite social networks and, in this case, both Facebook and Twitter do not appear, at all, on the list.

According to this study, 35 percent of the young people surveyed selected Snapchat as their favorite social network; it is followed by TikTok, with a 30 percent preference; and in the end there is Instagram (owned by Facebook) with 22 percent acceptance.

Only these data reveal two surprising facts: the first, despite what one might think, is not TikTok the favorite social network of young people, even though the Chinese platform has had great popularity since the beginning of the pandemic.

The other fact it reveals is that neither Facebook nor Twitter are on the podium. What’s more, the data is harder, as only 2 percent of those surveyed chose these platforms as their favorite social networks.

Times are changing and, with them, trends; Today, it seems, the constant exposure on social networks is being more profitable. Take into account that Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram have very similar functions, in all three users usually show us, through short videos, part of their daily life.

Could it be that we are facing the end of Facebook and Twitter, and, above all, facing a new era? What is certain is that those who dominate the spectrum of social networks are neither, which is evident when we see that young people approach sites like Instagram, TikTok or Snapchat due to the very design of their platform, much more visual and therefore more attractive.

It is clear that, for Generation Z, Facebook and Twitter are the social networks that they hate the most, and this can mark a great event for the future.
