One of the most anticipated races of all of 2023! This Sunday, November 19, the first edition in more than 40 years of the Las Vegas GPwhere the Formula 1 returns to one of the most important entertainment cities in the world. It should be noted that the first practices have taken place since last Thursday the 16th, with the most important days being Saturday for qualifying and Sunday (in Latin America) for the central race of the Street circuit in Las Vegas.
Formula 1 returns to Las Vegas 41 years later, this time as a promoter of the Grand Prix that takes place through the streets of the city, with a straight line of almost two kilometers and in cold weather – the race will start at 10:00 p.m. Saturday in Las Vegas – which will be a challenge for tires and drivers, in a weekend that seeks spectacle beyond the competition itself.
The majority of pilots with special helmets have joined the party, showing their enthusiasm in interviews and social networks to spend a weekend of competition in Las Vegas… although this is not the case of the already 2023 world champion, the Dutch Max Verstappen.
The great favorite, as before starting almost every Grand Prix this season – only in Singapore did the first free practice already break its latent superiority -, has been the most critical in the opening ceremony, in which the drivers were put on platforms on the main straight.
“For me, you could skip this kind of thing, I have zero interest. Being up here… you look like a clown, this GP is 99% spectacle and 1% sport. I don’t have any problem with this race, but it’s not my problem either,” said the Red Bull driver.

The changes to the Las Vegas GP for 2023
The world’s great car competition lands in Las Vegas for the first time in 41 years. In 1981 and 1982 two races were run in the city, in the parking lot of the legendary Caesars Palace hotel.
However, in 2023 the route will run through a large part of the ‘strip’ -centre- of the city and will be very different in terms of track conditions. Above all because of the long straight which, thanks to its strong braking, will try to alleviate the obvious difficulty in overtaking caused by the narrowness of the route and the fact that the cars are the heaviest and largest in history.
Speed between countless neon lights. It is estimated that the drivers will have their foot on the accelerator 66% of the time in each lap, in which the great challenge for the drivers compared to other urban circuits will be managing the low temperatures.
