The minister published on Twitter this announcement that she made before a commission of the Belgian parliament, where she said that those affected will have to leave Belgian territory within 15 days.
Ireland announced on Tuesday the expulsion of four Russian diplomats on the grounds that their activities “do not meet international standards of diplomatic behaviour.”
The Russian ambassador in Dublin was summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be notified of the expulsions, the Irish diplomacy said in a statement.
However, Ireland has refused to supply lethal weapons directly to Ukraine, citing its military neutrality.
The Netherlands announced for its part that it will expel 17 Russian diplomats acting as intelligence officers, the Dutch Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
“Today [martes] Russia’s ambassador to the Foreign Ministry was summoned” and informed of the expulsion, the Hague-based ministry said in a statement.
The Hague made the decision based on information from the Dutch intelligence services that these people “accredited as diplomats, secretly act as intelligence agents,” the ministry said.
The expulsion is a national security measure, the ministry said.
The Czech Republic’s foreign ministry said a diplomat from the Russian embassy in Prague was given 72 hours to leave the country.
“Together with our allies, we are reducing the presence of Russian intelligence in the European Union,” the ministry said in a tweet.
