Who has never heard an Elvis Presley song? Despite the fact that today marks the 45th anniversary of his death, the essence of the American singer is still present in hundreds of thousands of fans throughout the world. This year it was news again because one of the many Cadillac that he held during his life.
It is the Fleetwood Brougham, a luxurious car that he acquired in 1974 and that still retains the documents with his signature. The auction was held by the UK site Car & Classic, which confirmed that the car is not working, but could easily be repaired.
On the other hand, the site also stated that it still has all its original pieces, although some are deteriorated by the passage of time. During its 47 years of life, the Cadillac was never restored and has stood still for several years. Among its most notorious imperfections, the steering wheel stands out, which has some cracks due to climate change and the lack of a crown, one of the brand’s emblems.
Regarding its bodywork, it is observed in perfect condition, as is a large part of the car. Its 8.2-liter V8 engine is not working, although it can be easily fixed. The vehicle was purchased on September 26, 1974 by Elvis Presley for $70,541. Some time later, the singer gave it to his doctor, who kept it in his garage until 1985.
To the surprise of many, the final bid was 77,000 euros, well above the average offered for this type of used car. The signatures and the unpublished photos that were delivered with the vehicle played an important role, since not all the cars of the “King of Rock and Roll” have these verifications, even some of those that rest in museums lack said documents.
