Pump Elon musk during the AI Day It was, without a doubt, the surprising presentation of the Tesla Bot, a humanoid robot that looks like something out of a science fiction novel by Isaac Asimov. The electric carmaker, in fact, allowed us to see a preview of their project – a dummy – to show that it is completely real. Of course, they clarified that it is still in the development phase, so it is not yet possible to observe it in motion.
According to the company, the Tesla Bot will aim to replace humans in tasks “risky, repetitive and boring“No, it’s not a joke. It measures 1.76 meters and weighs 56 kilograms, figures that will allow you to deploy efficient movements to fulfill your tasks. At least initially, the Tesla Bot will be capable of carrying a load of up to 20 kilograms, and will be able to move at a maximum speed of 8 km / h. Not bad for a robot.
Obviously, the Tesla Bot is prepared with multiple internal systems both hardware and software to be efficient on a day-to-day basis. For instance, their hands can behave like those of humans to hold objects. Also has 40 electromechanical actuators, which work as a kind of joints to facilitate their movements.
It is surprising, of course, that the Tesla Bot’s weight is so “light” relative to its height. Elon Musk points out that, to achieve this, they have used lightweight materials, but without neglecting its resistance and durability.
You should know that the Tesla Bot has a “brain” quite similar to the one that makes the Autopilot of its electric cars possible. Believe it or not, integrates its own FSD (Full Self-Driving) computer and cameras to move autonomously. The latter are located on the head, so you can see a transparent material around them. On the other hand, instead of the face, a screen will be located to display information.
The Tesla Bot, like cars with the aforementioned assisted driving system, relies on neural networks to identify the objects around you and react as naturally as possible. It even integrates its own simulation system and a set of tools for constant learning.
Tesla’s goal, according to Elon Musk, is to have the first prototype of the Tesla Bot during 2022. Assuming, of course, that there are no unexpected obstacles in the way. Are you worried that the Tesla Bot could lead the Rise of the Machines and the rise of Skynet? Don’t worry, Musk says he’s a human-friendly robot. We hope this statement did not take it from I robot…
