The effects of having natural plants at home are many and all of them are very beneficial. Artificial plants are very good for those who are not good at plants, because they also have the power to decorate and brighten up any corner of the house. Natural plants have this same “power” but in addition, natural ones have many other beneficial effects such as moisture and mold controlor to set the terrace with the best smell.
Other great advantages of plants is that there are so many kinds that they are suitable for all rooms, even for the bathroom or kitchen. Moreover, some of them, due to their humidity needs, are precisely in these rooms where they find their best location.
And, although plants (like books) are essential to create a home beyond fashion and trends, they are not entirely alien to these. On the one hand, and as a reaction to the confinement, there has been a reaction that refers to surrounding ourselves with nature at home (it affects plants, natural and artisanal materials…). And there are times when some plants take more than others.
The trending plants for the house
The lyre-leaved indoor tree: the Ficus lyrata
This plant is characterized by the lyre shape of its leaves and its intense greenness. Having a tree format, it is perfect for filling corners (it can reach the ceiling) but without needing an excessive pot.
The olive
The Olive tree goes indoors and this is demonstrated by the fact that it has been the star plant in Casa decor for two seasons. A very our tree that has to enjoy a lot of light and that needs a large pot to grow. If it seems excessive for the interior, it will surely find a place on the balcony (even if it is small, its branches will grow towards the light)
In this spectacular flat in Bilbao they have taken advantage of the patio to show off the olive tree under a skylight and it marks the design of the entire flat.
indoor plane tree
Another plant for those who want to show off a large and exotic plant at home. Its XXL leaves need plenty of water and moisture. Despite their size, they are perfect for the bathroom and better if they have a light source nearby.
monstera
A few years ago we discovered the Monstera that became literally very fashionable. Although we are no longer in that boom, it is still a “trend” and we can enjoy its beauty and benefits.
the mimosas
It is without a doubt the “fashion” plant of the moment. There is no Instagrammer or reference blogger who does not wear them at home. It is a wild flower that now fills the field and will add the most luminous note to your house.
timeless plants
By timeless plants we refer to those unrelated to fashion or trends because they are always worn. Most of them have in common that they are easy plants to maintain and that they survive almost alone.
The Sansevieira or Sword of Saint George
One of the hardiest plants is the sansiveria. This plant is very grateful and grows strongly vertically. It needs very little watering, just look at its degree of humidity in the soil and only if it is not dry (something that will only happen for two weeks) will it need to be watered.
the pothos
A true interior classic, the pothos does not need spaces with a lot of light, so it is perfect for brighten up the interior even of bathrooms and kitchen. With a little care, its leaves will grow generously downwards, which is why they are ideal for hanging or placing on high surfaces.
The Kentia
Another of the classic plants that your mother and/or grandmothers have surely enjoyed at home is the Kentia. Although in principle it is an outdoor plant (it is a type of palm tree), it adapts very well to interiors, although it is better if it is close to a source of natural light. In very dry and heated environments, it is convenient to keep the leaves moist and, as it is a slow-growing plant, you can cheer yourself up with a large and bright specimen.
