Konami’s eFootball announced its patch 1.0 with gameplay changes coming on April 14. Every detail in this note!
Konami published on its official page that the new patch 1.0 will arrive on April 14 with the intention of improving the gameplay that was heavily criticized by fans. This new patch 1.0 will be used as the basis for what will be the “final version” of eFootball. In Geek Culture we test it beforehand and tell you all about the improvements in graphic quality, connection optimization on-line and above all how it feels to play a game with the improvements in the gameplay.
eFootball had a long way to go, from early-to-market, gross physics errors for a company as big as Konami, until heading lists of the worst Steam games in 2021. With the arrival of the new patch 1.0, a revival is expected for a franchise full of figures, since first-hand, Konami spokesmen told Geek Culture that they dedicated all this time to read and listen to what the complaints and requests from the community were to add them to this patch.
Changes, news and improvements of Patch 1.0
Konami, the Japanese company promises to bring “a new football game whose realism is not comparable to anything seen before”, Let’s go over what these changes are and how they felt when testing them, where we played two games. A River vs. Flamengo and a Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich.
As a detail, in the match that we played with River we were able to see the new level of detail of the Nuñez “More Monumental” stadium, including the protective tarpaulins of the grandstand expansion project. But we are going to review point by point what the improvements are and how they felt in the gameplay.
gameplay
- Introduction to “Sort Press”: It seeks to help the user to defend as a team, since in the previous patch it had been reported how difficult it was to defend or recover the ball. Along with the new function, a command called “Shoulder Charge” that allows attempts to recover the ball with greater aggressiveness.
- Passing improvements and new “Awesome Pass” command: bIt seeks to speed up the speed of the ball pass, so that it is consistent with the previously mentioned defense improvement. In addition, the “first” passes are benefited since the idea of Konami is to givea high rate of passes”, something they consider characteristic of modern football. AI decisions also receive improvements and the “awesome pass”thought to be “the pass of death”, incisive and definitive.
- Shooting Improvements: The determining factor of football, how to score goals, cannot be missing from a list of massive changes. For the issue of shooting, a higher speed of finishing touches was added, as well as a wow to the percentage of shots on goal. “Impressive shot” It is one of the novelties, with what they hope will “allow you to score goals of various kinds”. During the matches we had several chances on goal, we didn’t score all of them sadly but we were able to implement drop shots with R2 and strong shots that felt really better than in the previous version.
The new mechanicAwesome” of shooting, passing, through ball or crossing included in the update is something really important for the development of the game and to calm the fans who asked for improvements. The mechanics turned out to be very simple for us to use, once the command to be used (pass, shot or center) has been selected, automatically then you have to press the R2 and a bar will be displayed under the player that will be loaded until we release the R2. This bar increases the effectiveness of the pass, shot or center by providing much better outlined empty passes and shots on goal with a high goal percentage; but we must mention that to be able to use this mechanic the player must have enough space and time to be able to do it, since when pressing R2 the soccer player changes his posture and takes some time to outline himself and carry out the selected command.
- Dribbling Improvements: Are you one of those who likes to throw “chiches” all the time and annoy your rivals? Hand-to-hand situations are now “significantly improved” for a “rewarding experience”, and of this we give, faith. In this it feels less rough, more realistic, and above all more comfortable to play without that frustrating feeling of the initial version. Officially, the changes are regarding the accuracy of the ball, the response of the left stick and its combination with the run button. A command of “rough touch” along with simpler feints, which we couldn’t really test in this short encounter with the game.
Another added mechanic that will be very useful when playing those games where the defense is very hard and you can’t penetrate it is passing. The new wall mechanic that was included is possibly a solution to many problems in the original gameplay. The way to use it is very simple, it is simply to give the pass and before the ball reaches the receiver press the R1 and the player who gave the pass automatically runs looking for the return to the void dragging the mark and taking the defender’s mark.
- Improved connectivity on-line: Well, we reached a sensitive point. A stable connection is a key factor in any online game, from the Japanese company they are aware of this and that is why they presented improvements in the servers, with the adoption of the client-server system.
- Additional Strategy Features: In order to bring back features that weren’t available, they will add options such as: Change Formation, Individual Instructions, Auto Setup, Secondary Tactic, Data Management, among other.
online modes
We could not test this section yet, but from Konami they assure that it was one of the points where they worked to improve the experience. The improvements are:
- Changes to “Ideal Team”: What would it be like UltimateTeam on FIFAwill now be called “Ideal team” (before creative team). Among the announced changes are: renewal of original ideas so that the player has greater freedom when it comes to putting together teams together with the choice of the technical director. figures like Gabriel batistuta and Paolo Maldini will be some of the classic players that will be available.
As for the mobile version, it is clearly not a priority in current development, but rather to improve the experience of the PC and console versions, but that does not mean that it is not working and that it will not come in the near future with the great promise of cross play between celus and console: “We want to apologize again for the update delay. The development team is working hard to ensure that its final quality is up to the standard that our fans deserve.” The last time they postponed their arrival was in November 2021.
Like most people, when we played eFootball 2022 for the first time, it seemed like an unfinished game, very rough in movement, with strange animations and visuals. But the most striking thing was that the gameplay was not what Konami had accustomed us to, not even for longtime fans of the saga. This newly introduced patch that we were able to test, is clearly a step forward, as Konami listened to what their public wanted and tried to bring it to the game.
Trying it made us want to continue playing it, because it was fun again like in the old days. the opposite of the game eFootball 2022 at its launch. I feel comfortable again, the animations on the players are a bit more real and feel more fluid. The new commands are a fundamental part of better gameplay and game rhythm, they make it more harmonious and dynamic, what we are used to seeing in real life. That is if they have their complexity when it comes to carrying them out and defending them, and therein lies the new challenge, adapting quickly and squeezing the capacity of the players to the fullest. Definitely Konami now gives us the feeling that it found the right way to solve a difficult launch of eFootball and put its football game on everyone’s lips again, although there is still work to be done.
Regarding the release date, it is agreed for the next April 14thfrom Konami announced that more changes are to come and will be announced soon. do you think finally Pro Evolution Soccer Will he have his worthy successor? What other news would you like to see in eFootball?
