Lately the Microsoft Edge team is offering a lot of new features, maybe too many. Now they want to make it easier for us to follow any YouTube channel in the old style of RSS. Let’s see how this new feature that has been discovered by Leo Varela.
Following channels on YouTube will be easier with Microsoft Edge
As we indicated before, it seems that Microsoft plans to offer RSS integration in Edge. But instead of doing it the old fashioned way it seems have found a way to modernize such technology. Anyone would say that it is unnecessary, but the case at hand is interesting. We don’t really know if it’s better for content creators or users, but it’s interesting.
In the latest version of Edge Canary, users will be offered the ability to follow creators when they visit their channel via a button in the address bar. When selecting it, the pop-up window that you can see above will appear.
The way to see the content will be through the Collections. In this area we will be shown the recent publications to be aware of everything that happens. An interesting twist that would have been more appropriate if Google had done it perhaps.
Although the function uses RSS, which is a worldwide standard, it seems that it is only available on YouTube. This makes a lot of sense on the part of the Microsoft Edge team in preventing users from becoming overwhelmed with too much information. But it will still offer the ability to get a feed of users without accessing traditional social networks.
As mentioned earlier, the feature is currently available in Edge Canary, although it seems not to be available to all users at present. It is a partial test and we will see if it finally reaches all users.
