Mexico is one of the countries with fewer days of vacation gives globally. A few months after they approved a new labor reform in Mexicowhich stipulates that all Mexican workers have the right to a minimum of 12 days of vacation a year, made a significant change, because previously there were 6 days a year, the Indeed portal did a study and this is what the workers answered. workers.
In order to understand what Mexican workers think about it, Indeed, the number 1 job portal in the world, conducted a survey of more than 900 Mexican employees. The study revealed that only 26% of them have more than 12 days of vacation in their current job, followed by those who have 6 to 12 days (27%). While 24% answered that they only have 6 days of vacation a year and 13% mentioned that they do not have any days off in their first year with the company.
Likewise, he asked the interviewees if they were aware of the concept of unlimited paid time off, in which employees are not assigned a certain number of days off, but rather have the freedom to choose the time they consider necessary as long as they do not stop business.
That said, 4 out of 10 Mexicans recognized that this is something they have heard about in international companies, but have never seen it in Mexico, only 20% know of companies that offer it in Mexico, and 15% assured that their Companies have this benefit for workers, according to the Indeed statement.
Each country has its own work culture, more vacation days, salary differences, benefits or maternity leave. The reality is that Mexico had one of the lowest rates of days off in the world, fortunately, that changed and now employees can enjoy more days to rest, increase their productivity and balance their personal life with their career in a better way” ,

The necessary balance in the world of work
Indeed reported that having time for oneself and not just for work is one of the priorities for Mexican employees, who consider that the current vacation days are enough to balance work life (55%); the productivity is also a crucial factor in this regard, and 88% of the workers considers that the new reform of the Law on 12 days of vacation for the first year instead of 6 days will improve performance.
In addition, 60% disagree with the idea that more vacations can prevent them from achieving their goals or affect their performance at work. And 67% would consider taking a new job at another company if it would provide more vacation days.
Despite the fact that 74% of Mexican workers usually take all their vacations during the year, it is possible that having twice as many days represents a challenge, since it implies a change of dynamics and even mentality. However, we must learn to organize ourselves in such a way that enjoyment is not at odds with responsibility or commitment, but that they complement each other.”
