On social networks, they have denounced the unfortunate death of a doctor from Guadalajara who suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning from a boiler inside the hotel room where she was staying in CDMX.
The deceased doctor has been identified as Silvia Guadalupe Esquivel, 27, who was a resident of the Civil Hospital. Relatives of Dr. Tapatía announced that she died on November 14 in the room of the Hotel “La casa del reloj” located at José María Morelos 187, on the corner with Viad. Tlalpan, in CDMX.
I want to share this with all the pain in my heart and with the firm intention of being able to avoid this suffering for future families and that someone else may lose their life.

According to the complaint online, The reason for the death of Dr. Tapatía was negligence on the part of the hotel due to carbon monoxide poisoning from the boiler that was inside the room’s bathroom and, according to the accusations on social networks, it did not have any type of ventilation.
The complaint was made by Ale Valle on Twitter who presumes to be the cousin of the health professional who died in Mexico City. In addition, she explained that this was not the first time that a person lost their life due to this incident in the same building.
He also shared a series of screenshots taken from various complaints from other users who ended up in the hospital for the same problem as evidence that the authorities have not done anything to these complaints.
of the complaints they did not care that this took the life of my cousin
I ask for your dissemination so that no one else stays there, nothing can return us to our Chivis but at least we can prevent someone from getting hurt and taking responsibility for their negligence 🙏 pic.twitter.com/FUUnnLHTse– Ale Valle (@AleVE010) November 18, 2022
Recommendations to reduce the risk of gas leaks
According to the Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Government of Mexico City, Gas leaks are the main cause of flames, fires, explosions, burns and poisoning in the home, so it is important to check the connections, as well as the cylinders, every 6 months and after an earthquake occurs.
- To detect if a cylinder or connection has a leak, soapy water must be placed; if bubbles are produced, there is a leak.
- It is important that when buying an LP gas cylinder you check that it does not present bumps and/or dents, corrosion or that it gives off a strong odor of ethyl mercaptan.
- Place the cylinder on firm, level ground outside your home.
- Do not expose the tank to any source of heating; The minimum distance to an element that generates sparks is 1.5 meters.
- Do not puncture, strike, or use gas cylinder for purposes other than LP gas storage
- When you cook, don’t leave the burners on your stove or oven on unattended.
- Remember that under no circumstances should minors play in the kitchen; put guards on stove knobs.
- Before going to sleep or when going on a trip, close the gas tank keys.
We regret the sensitive death of Dr. Silvia Guadalupe Esquivel Razo, Resident of the Internal Medicine Specialty of the Old Civil Hospital of Guadalajara “Fray Antonio Alcalde”.
Rest in peace.🙏 pic.twitter.com/rqVRc4iRQu
