STRAVA is a social network that brings together millions of athletes from all over the world. In this space, cyclists, walkers and runners share their training and race sessions. The application allows timely monitoring of our sports performance and its evolution over time. Part of the most valuable thing that its use gives us is the analysis of the large amount of information from millions of athletes that results in the discovery of truly valuable conclusions.
In its latest report, the statistics show that over the past year the number of competitions that were registered prior to the appearance of COVID 19 has been reached, which practically canceled all massive events, including short races, marathons and ultramarathons.
The application’s 2022 report, with information from more than 100 million users, concludes that runners do well to run accompanied; that is, runners who train with friends cover a distance between 10 and 20 percent greater than those who decide to run alone. Surprisingly, the difference percentages skyrocket even more when we analyze the activities of cyclists, who in some areas, when riding in a group, double the distance and frequency of their sessions, unlike those who decide to ride alone.
In addition, STRAVA athletes demonstrate through their sessions the great growth of sports that are carried out in contact with nature, such as hiking and mountain races. Regarding cyclists, the application recorded that of the total number of sessions that this type of users carry out, 26 percent of them were carried out on electric bicycles, which augurs significant growth in the future in this segment.
Finally, the app also demonstrates that athlete travel and mobility have reached almost the frequency that they used to register before the pandemic.
If you don’t know STRAVA, I invite you to download it and turn your cell phone into a tool for analyzing your physical performance that will connect you with athletes from all over the world, which in turn will motivate you to break the limits and go further.
