The incident occurred in Puerto Rico, where apparently tipping is optional.
On Instagram, The case of a waitress who, after not receiving a tip from the diner, shared her story bursting into tears has gone viral.
The story occurred in Puerto Rico, but the digital pulse has been responsible for making it viral, especially because of the way in which said waitress is affected, who, supposedly, responds to the name of Joyce Ferrer.
As is well known, the scenario of social networks today is unbeatable, as evidenced by a recent study indicating that there are 4.9 billion Internet users worldwidewhich, in turn, are registered in at least one social network.
In that sense, let’s not forget that we live in an era where the term “viralization” is part of our daily lives and the language of the new generations that, increasingly, enter the digital pulse.
The case of Joyce Ferrer, a woman who works as a waitress in a restaurant in Puerto Rico, is an example of how the digital community works today.
Through social networks, Ferrer decided to share the story of a diner who did not leave a tipbut what caught the attention was that the woman recounted the fact while she did not stop crying.
“I know that no one forces me to be a waitress. So much shit that is happening now, that they are paying a pittance, ”the woman begins by saying.
“What bothers me are the clients, look how they put me. I can’t believe I screwed up a table. I treated them super well, they were super friendly, and the thing is that they complained that the rice was cold – and I changed it. I did it because I don’t like to eat and there are problems at the table, “she added.
“The person asks me for the bill, my sister charged her and I can’t believe that the ticket was 100 and they didn’t leave me a fucking dollar.
I fucked with the others, I forgot about the other tables as long as everything went well with them, and for what? For them to do that to me. They don’t think, people don’t understand that I don’t make the food, but the people in the kitchen and without us, the waiter, nobody serves you the plate of food, the cook won’t bring it to you.
The tip doesn’t bother me, but everything I did so that they left happy, and they left happy, but they didn’t thank me with a tip or with words, “said the waitress, crying.
A few months ago, a similar case occurred in Mexicowhich, as happened with Joyce Ferrer, went viral because of the way the waiter told it.
On that occasion, the complaint focused on the fact that, from a bill of 10 thousand pesos, the diners left a tip of 100 pesos:
“When I see, they had left a hundred fucking pesos for the whole service. Quickly (and quite annoyed) I tell him that the recommended minimum is 10 percent, to which he replies: ‘Excuse me, but a thousand pesos of tip is too much, I’m leaving you just enough for me’. We provided excellent service, we made sure to change all the details they wanted in her dishes and even put up with her whining to talk to us.“reported the waiter.
In Mexico, when one goes to eat at a restaurant, it is common for the waiters to receive a 10 percent tip, proportional to the final amount of the bill to be paid; however, in Puerto Rico tipping is optional and is left to the consideration of the customer and between 15 and 20 percent is offered.
