At least 60 countries have already requested facilities for the new Taliban regime to allow Afghan civilians to leave if they wish, through international flights.
So far, operations are still suspended and there are no security guarantees to affirm that the planes will not be the target of any type of attack. Although there has been no report of any kind of confrontation between the planes of the Western forces and those of the Taliban.

Prolonged freedom?
US President George W. Bush launched Operation Enduring Freedom on September 7, 2001, almost a month after the September 11 terrorist attacks, which killed more than 3,000 people. Afghanistan, then in Taliban hands, refused to hand over Osama Bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, the terrorist organization that blamed him for the attacks.

Broken promises
Although Barack Obama came to the presidency of the United States with the promise of ending the war, during his government a maximum of 100,000 American soldiers was reached in Afghanistan, in order to control the Taliban insurgency and stifle the advance of the Islamic State.

Far from peace
Although at the beginning of his presidency, Trump launched a major offensive against the Taliban, in 2020 his government reached a peace agreement with this group. His successor, Joe Biden, advanced the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, which should have ended on August 31. The Taliban took advantage of this and the weakness of the Afghan army to advance and eventually take the capital Kabul.
