In the “National Survey of Audiovisual Content Consumption – Special Report 2020-202” it is revealed which open television channels lead the Mexican media market.
A study of CableTV.com he measured the importance of the media, of adapting to the competition.
Denise Maerker caught the attention of the newscast because at the time she raised the flag of the LGBT+ community when it was gay pride month.
Changes were carried out in Televisa and the departure of Denise Maeker of the nightly news, as part of a movement that seeks to innovate for the benefit of its audiences.
The change in the talent of Televisa’s news bar highlights two elements. The first, that it is one of the most demanded segments of open television and second, that talent is part of the equation with which these companies give competition not only to other channels that they face in the traditional segment, but also against the streaming.
Televisa is, along with Canal 5 and Azteca 7, one of the most watched open television channels in Mexico, based on the “National Survey of Audiovisual Content Consumption – Special Report 2020-202”.
“In April 2021, approximately 58 percent of surveyed free TV viewers in Mexico said they watch Las Estrellas free TV channel, operated by TelevisaUnivision. Among pay-TV subscribers, participation stood at 54 percent. This makes Las Estrellas the most watched channel in Mexico, regardless of the type of television signal of the viewers,” he explained. The changes that are coming in Televisa
Enrique Acevedo will replace Denise Maerker in the nightly edition of the Televisa newscast, so En Punto will now be hosted by Enrique Acevedo, with extensive experience in newscasts in the United States as CBS This Morning and 60 Minutes.
Acevedo, who worked at Televisa, returns to the television station with the consent of Daniel Badia, CEO of N+, the platform from which the Televisa news segment is produced, where Maerker will now be as executive producer.
Badia explained that the series of changes that he announced are part of his strategy to improve the production capacities that they have in the television station, to be leaders, since he recognized that the news provider is highly competitive by new platforms in the competition.

The changes that were announced in Televisa are part, as the CEO of the news unit himself explained, of the conquest for the preferences of the audiences in the face of the great competition that exists today in the media.
According to a study of CableTV.com, the firm found three reasons for not getting rid of a cable TV subscription. The first is that 19 percent of those surveyed could watch live sporting events; 11 percent said that they could watch the broadcast of events live and 10 percent said that the internet connection is too slow to have a subscription to streaming platforms.
