Damon Motorcycles has finished the development process of its new and long-awaited electric motorcycle. A true beast on two wheels that can reach 320 km/h and is equipped with a 20 kWh battery. In addition, it has V2H technology, which makes it a mobile generator that can even supply power to the home.
About two years ago Damon Motorcyclesa young Canadian company, presented in society a new and very interesting electric motorcycle. The new Damon HyperSport
burst onto the scene with the aim of captivating the public looking for a true beast on two wheels. With a modern design, this new bike stands apart from the competition thanks to the technology with which it is equipped.
Damon not only promises high performance, one of the key differentiators of the new HyperSport is that it can play the role of a mobile electrical generator. Yes, as we will see later, this new electric motorcycle can supply energy to the home as a backup to deal with, for example, a temporary failure of the network.
Damon’s new electric motorcycle has more than 200 hp
The development process is finished and, as Damon has announced, they are now ready to start production. A manufacturing process that will begin, if everything goes according to plan, in 2023. In recent years, the company has amassed a long list of reserves totaling nearly 100 million dollars.
Damon has designed two models. We have on the one hand the aforementioned Hyper Sport and, on the other hand, is the new HyperFighter. Both share a drivetrain. The “heart” of the 100% electric propulsion system is a 20kWh battery
whose main purpose is none other than to feed a liquid-cooled engine that develops a power of 150 kW (204 hp) and more than 200 Nm of maximum torque.
The autonomy is about 320 kilometers and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds and break the 320 km/h barrier. As for the charging process, it can be completed to 80% of the battery capacity in just 45 minutes using a direct current fast charging point.
V2M technology to supply energy to the home
One of the main features of Damon’s new electric motorcycle is that it has V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) technology. Therefore, and as we have previously pointed out, it becomes a mobile power generator. This technology makes it possible to use the energy stored in the battery to support a home during a blackout or even for a caravan when we are camping. The on-board charger, with bi-directional capability, can reach 6.6kw.
In its most complete version, it boasts extensive equipment, even in regard to driving assistance systems. The help of Co-Pilot system, for instance. It is also possible to add Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension, ABS, traction control and OTA updates.
Damon electric motorcycle release date and prices
When will it hit the market? Damon’s HyperSport and HyperFighter bike reservation book is open. Both models have a starting MSRP of $19,000 (€19,590). A price that corresponds to an access version with lower features. If everything goes according to plan, it will be in 2023 when we will see these interesting electric motorcycles on the market.
