Isaac Feliu has been repatriated to Spain after spending almost fifteen days in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. The doctors who have treated the Spanish ‘motard’ since he suffered a serious fall in the ninth stage of the Dakar 2022 have approved the transfer of the Catalan from the Middle Eastern country to Spain, all after partially waking up Feliu in recent days from the sedation induced by the severe blow he had sustained to the head. Upon arrival in Spain, Feliu was immediately admitted to a medical center in Barcelona.
Thus, the rider of the KLIM TwinTrail Racing team will be able to continue his recovery in a hospital in Barcelonasurrounded by his family and friends. Although in recent days his wife and his teammate and friend Carles Falcón have been able to be with Isaac, the first hours and days of hospitalization in Saudi Arabia drew a situation of considerable uncertainty, since the visiting regime in the center where Feliu was sedated was quite strict.
According to the team statement, Isaac has been waking up in recent days responding positively to medical protocols followed in these cases. His good response and his slow but steady improvement have led the doctors to give the green light for his transfer to Spain. In the hospital where he is admitted, he will undergo more tests and Feliu will be able to continue with the corresponding treatment until the sedation is withdrawn. However, the symptoms are positive since Isaac has begun to speak and continues to evolve favourably.
Along with Isaac Feliu, his wife and his partner Carles Falcón have also returned from Saudi Arabia, thus completing what everyone has cataloged as the last link of the Dakar 2022. Rally that in the case of Feliu ends a week later than expected. Carles Falcón and Albert Martín, Isaac’s teammates in the KLIM TwinTrail Racing team, did manage to reach the finish line in the 44th edition of the race, despite competing in the Original by Motul category, without assistance.
The pilot of La Segarra now begins a new race, in this case against his own body, since the recovery process promises to be long due to the injuries suffered by the Spanish ‘motard’ after the crash in the ninth stage of the Dakar. It should be remembered that Isaac Feliu suffered, in addition to the blow to the head, a strong contusion in the chest with lung affection, as well as a fissure in the C7 vertebra.
