Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, has reviewed the situation of the company due to the multiple changes of chief designer that have been made in a short space of time. In addition, the top leader of the popular cheap car brand has confirmed the status of the new Duster and Bigster that will see the light of day in 2025.
What is happening in Dacia? The popular cheap car brand is working at full capacity in an ambitious process of internal revolution. A strategic plan that goes through the launch of totally new models, the renewal of current vehicles, a change of corporate image and, what is equally crucial, carrying out the transition process towards sustainable mobility. However, the numerous changes made at the top of the company’s organization chart open the door for speculation.
The departure of Miles Nürnberger means, in the end, that Dacia is on its third head of design within a year. Denis Le Vot himself, CEO of Dacia, has granted an interview in which he analyzes the current situation that the brand is going through and, especially, the changes that have been carried out in a position as important as it is chief designer.
The creator of the Aston Martin DBX leaves his position as Head of Design at Dacia
In the month of June 2021, a lot of expectation was generated when it was announced that Nürnberger would become the new Head of Design for Dacia and Lada. The company’s top executive was known in the auto industry for having brought to life none other than the Aston Martin DBX. So we had a designer going from a super-luxury brand to a low-cost brand like Dacia.
Le Vot assures that Nürnberger’s departure is due to personal reasons: «I am sorry that Miles has left. He was a great guy. He has personal reasons for wanting to leave, and we respect that.” It should be remembered that Nürnberger arrived in Dacia to fill the position left by Alejandro Mesonero-Romanoswho spent just nine months in the role before leaving for Alfa Romeo.
David Durand, the long-time Vice President of Dacia, has been promoted to lead the team: «It has been disappointing to lose Alejandro and now Miles so quickly, but the changes are out of our control and David is an exceptional leader. These things happen. If I reflect, zero that now is the best time, “commented Le Vot.
The design of the new Dacia Duster and Bigster is practically finished
The top leader of Dacia wanted to clarify that this design lead change will not affect future releases. And more specifically to the new Dacia Duster and Dacia Bigster. Le Vot argued that the design process of both models is practically finished: «The design work on the next Duster and Bigster is 99% donechanges have been made to our brand images and we have some exciting ideas in the works that have been or are being developed.”
What is not entirely clear, since Le Vot has not commented on it, is what will happen to the successor to the Dacia Spring that will see the light in 2024. Taking into account the year in which it will hit the market, the process of design and development should already be underway. In the coming months we will see what will happen with this launch that will play an equally relevant role.
