For the first time since the launch of the original Apple Watch, the straps may no longer be compatible with the new Apple Watch Series 7. We now know that this year’s new model is going to be significantly larger. The Series 7 will be available in 41 and 45mm, for the current 40 and 44mm, and some think that that difference will make the straps no longer compatible.
When Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 4, it did so with a new, larger design, but one that maintained compatibility with the straps that had been laced up to that point. That is to say, an original Apple Watch strap is fully compatible with the Apple Watch Series 6.
Nevertheless with the imminent Apple Watch Series 7 it seems that this is not so clear, although there are conflicting rumors. On the one hand we have one of the most reputed Chinese leakers, Uncle Pan, who said that the current straps would be compatible with the Apple Watch Series 7. But now a new voice has appeared saying that it will not be so.
Will the current straps be compatible with the Apple Watch Series 7?
According to Max Weinbach, who has already leaked accurate details about Apple before, the new Apple Watch Series 7 straps “will not be compatible with older watches”. Or in other words, the old straps will not fit properly on the Apple Watch Series 7.
Fwiw I’ve heard from an Apple store employee that they’re not getting anymore 40 / 44mm bands in and expect the new Apple watch to use different bands that won’t be compatible with old watches https://t.co/BY9D8WQLFf

So I heard from an Apple store employee that they are no longer going to have 40 / 44mm straps and they expect the new Apple Watch to use different straps which will not be compatible with the old watches.
We’ll see what happens when the Apple Watch shows up in just a few days, as long as it’s not delayed. On the one hand, There are many Apple Watch users with many straps that they could not use, so it would be a big drawback to switch to Series 7. But on the other hand, if we want design changes, we must accept this type of incompatibility.
