Crossovers are something that is always on the minds of fans. However, sometimes the creators of these ideas are playing with fire without them knowing it. This was the case for Shawn Levy, who spoke about the possibilities of seeing a cross between Deadpool and stranger thingssomething that, at the end of the day, is simply impossible.
During the last Emmy Awards ceremony, Levy commented that he was working together with Ryan Reynolds, in charge of playing Deadpool, for a possible crossover between the Marvel character and the Netflix series. This was what he commented:
“Interestingly, Ryan Reynolds and I were trying to figure out how the hell we could do a Deadpool – Stranger Things crossover. We haven’t figured it out yet, but he’s on the table.”
This immediately caused a sensation on social media, with fans simply not believing what they were hearing. Nevertheless, this turned out to be just a joke and eventually Levy apologized for creating and breaking all the illusions of the fans:
“Wade Wilson can’t stand to see blood unless it’s his own or his enemies. Nosebleeds are a difficult step. No DP/ST crossover coming, folks. I’m sorry my silly prank led to misleading headlines.”
This shouldn’t be a surprise. stranger things and Deadpool are properties of different companieswith different tones and, although the idea could have worked as part of a skit or promotional, it would probably have been hell to coordinate all those involved.
