The exploration in Valheim is one of the fundamental points of the game. You have to reach the different areas to defeat the corresponding bosses in each of them, but this can be quite a challenge.
Each place is full of new threats and peculiarities and therefore, in the following guide you will find all the detailed information about the different types of biomes and how we can reach them. Do not miss it!
Complete list of biomes in Valheim
To date we find 9 biomes to visit, although it must be said that some of them are still under development. This means that we can visit them, but there really is not much to interact with, enemies or the cold or heat parameters are not activated.
Plains
Is he first biome in which we started the adventure. As the name suggests, it is made up of green meadows with few trees and plenty of room to build. The enemies in this area are not very dangerous either and we find fruits and berries to eat.
There are small rivers that are also shallow, being a good place to catch stones and the trees are not very resistant, so it is quick to find wood. In this area we will find the altar of Eykthyr, the first boss of the game.
Black forest
This biome is usually attached to the Plains, but it is a much more dangerous place. The vegetation is thicker and the space darker. In this place we will find burial chambers and troll caves, as well as the trolls themselves.
For the first time we will find enemy spawn points, such as skeletons and also the first copper and tin deposits. Additionally, this biome is also the location of Haldor, the merchant. The chief of this area is known as the Ancient.
Plains
Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of this biome. It is true that it is very wide and seems empty beyond the grass and some bushes, but it is a very complicated place. From the outset, in Plains we will find mosquitoesAlthough they are not very resistant, they can kill us with just a few touches; We will also find the Lox that allow us to make clothing for the mountains. This is the boss’s home Yagluth. It is usually found near the Black Forest.
Swamps
It is surely one of the most difficult biomes to explore to date due to its messy terrain and water stagnations that slow us down. It is a very bad place to flee from enemies, as there are leeches in the water on top. It is also a place of crypts, which hide treasures, but also many enemies like the draugrs. As if that were not enough, this game contains the spectral, who do not hesitate to chase you to death. It is the home of the boss Bonemass. They are usually found near the Plains and Black Forest area. Sometimes you have to leave the original continent to find them.
Moutains
Another of the toughest biomes in the game. Going into the mountains implies facing terrible enemies such as wolves, but also the terrible frosts that can kill us by freezing. This place is rich in materials such as silver or obsidian, being better to visit it as a raid and not as a place of settlement. It is advisable to make a teleportation portal if possible. On many occasions it is adjacent to the Black Forest area, going up the mountainous areas a bit.
Misty Earth
It is a biome that although it can already be visited, it still does not have much activity. However, it shows a place full of cobwebs and fog that lets us see what this place will bring us. It is found in areas mostly far from the beginning biomes and to get to this place it is very possible that we have to use the ship.
The North
At top of the map you will find the largest frozen area in Valheim. Currently if we get there we will see that the cold has not yet activated and there are no enemies available, but it can be visited with a little patience. We will need a boat to get there.
Ash land
At the bottom end of the map is an infernal ring that will take us to Land of Ashes. Despite being still empty, we can find assortlings engulfed in flames. As a peculiarity we will tell you that as we enter this area, the water turns red and the map also changes color. We will need a boat to get there.
