When talking about New World builds, you usually try to mix a ranged weapon with a close-range weapon, although in the case of this guide of Colossus you will meet him big ax and hammer. The two weapons boast some pretty powerful AoE abilities, and together they are a true PvP nightmare.
However, what is really interesting about this build is that it is probably the best in what to area damage for PvE refers. The two weapons are great for advancing through the story and for dungeons, and if you fancy having CC and AoE you’re going to love them.

Attributes and equipment
In terms of attributes, there is good news: you are only going to have to upload two. As you can imagine, both the big ax and the hammer use the strength as the main statistic, so you are going to be interested in having it to the maximum.
The second attribute is not too complicated to deduce, and is that by not having long-distance options, you will inevitably end up losing life, betting on the Constitution in this case. This last point is closely related to the type of armor.
As you will understand, you are not going to be exactly a spark when it comes to approaching the enemy, so you are going to want to bet on a heavy armor. As always, the stats that will interest you the most are physical and elemental defenses, and strength and constitution.
Weapons and abilities
The two weapons that you have to use are the following:
- Hammer: We will use the hammer to start the fighting, also counting with CC to several players and the possibility of getting rid of the most stubborn enemies. With Path of Destiny, you will do something at a distance while approaching the enemy. Jolt is great for stunning enemies and punishing them some more, while Clear is what you use to blow up the enemy and get some space.
- Great ax: If the hammer is great for attacking from a distance and stunning the enemy, the great ax is the one in charge of binding the enemy, reducing distance and hitting the elusive enemies. With Charge you will advance a few precious meters to get closer to the enemy, immediately using Gravity Well to tie them to the site and be able to hit them at ease. The last skill, Maelstrom, will be great against very fast enemies, as it always hits.
The playing style It has several aspects: do you want to get closer with the hammer? Then you will have to use Path of Destiny to mine the rival as you approach. As soon as he’s in range, you jab him to apply CC and use Clear if you have too many enemies on top.
If you opt for the big ax, then you will use Charge to shorten distances, ipso facto using the Gravitational Well to be able to strike at pleasure. Use Maelstrom if you have a particularly annoying enemy in front of you that won’t stop moving.
