Technology is found in all aspects of life and the field of health is no exception. There are different innovations that have been developed to facilitate the work of doctors in their professional lives. At the top of the list are medical devices and in order to take full advantage of these tools, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) has now made a special announcement.
As part of its actions to professionalize health regulation, it will offer the Technovigilance course for the second time. It is aimed at health professionals and the most important thing is that it is free because it will be taught digitally through the MexicoX platform.
What does it work for?
Technovigilance is a system for the identification and evaluation of adverse incidents caused by medical devices. In our country, the health authority carries out these actions through the Cofepris National Center for Pharmacovigilance.
Adverse incidents are identified through health surveillance and technical analysis of user and professional reports. This helps ensure that authorized medical devices perform as intended according to their intended use. Based on the results, Cofepris and the manufacturing companies take actions to correct, reduce and eliminate the possibility of risks, protecting the health and safety of people.
The course Technovigilance provides elements to identify risk factors associated with medical devices, based on the recording and systematic evaluation of incident notifications to determine their frequency, severity and incidence, prevent their appearance and minimize risks.
The second edition takes up the topics discussed in the first workshop and strengthens the content by including three new modules such as: regulatory framework for techno-surveillance, the Supplement for Medical Devices of the Pharmacopoeia of the United Mexican States (FEUM), risk management of a premarket medical device Administrative guide to give notice of registration, modifications or dismissal of the unit and/or person in charge of Technovigilance, and the notification of adverse incidents.
