Its work plan for this new period will focus on promoting a new strategic vision of tourism, the expansion of alliances with the public and private sectors and, above all, the institutional strengthening and internationalization of this business organization. Likewise, it foresees the alienation of the work with the state chapters and promote promotion and security campaigns.
Arsuaga has held meetings with key figures in the sector. In August 2020, he met with the then Mexican ambassador to the United States, Martha Bárcena, as well as representatives of the governments of Jalisco, Baja California Sur and Quintana Roo, to propose actions aimed at reactivating the tourism industry.
He also met in September 2020 with the president and general secretary of the Madrid Hotel Business Association (AEHM), Gabriel García Alonso and Mar de Miguel, respectively, as well as with the vice president of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC, for its acronym in English), Maribel Rodríguez, to learn about and exchange the best practices in health and hygiene applied by companies in the tourism sector, both in Mexico and in Spain.
