In the spotlight are emerging markets as important as Brazil or India. To materialize this objective it is necessary to carry out a product offensive. There will be a successor to the Citroën C-Elysée
The C-Elysée is the last cheap sedan marketed by Citroën in Europe. A model that, curiously, wore the “Made in Spain” stamp. The serial production process of the latest generation took place in the facilities that Stellantis has in Vigo. Unfortunately, the new model that is on the agenda does not have the objective of conquering the European public.
Laurent Barria, Citroën’s Global Director of Marketing and Communication, has confirmed some of the keys to the new sedan. In statements to the specialized media Engine1 Citroën’s top official has confirmed that after the new C3, a new SUV will be launched next year. will have to wait until 2024 to see the successor to the C-Elysée at dealerships: “Yes, in 2024, if all goes well.”
It is the first time that the brand itself has spoken openly about the rumored low-cost sedan. The first rumors came to light in 2017. Among its most direct rivals will be the Honda City, the Chevrolet Onix Plus, the Hyundai HB20S and even the FIAT Cronos. It will be developed on the CMP platform, the same architecture used in the new C3 for emerging markets.

Regarding the mechanical section, surprises are not ruled out. One of the options that is on the table is to share engines with the C3. Among other engines, the door opens to a 1.0 FireFly 75 hp engine and a 1.6 EC5 engine with 120 hp. Later, once the first stage of commercial life is completed, the brand will be able to add other engines such as a 1.3 turbo block.
The mass production process of this new sedan whose name is, to this day, unknown, will take place at the Stellantis facilities in Porto Real (Brazil). We must not rule out that it is also manufactured in India in case the brand also decides to incorporate it into its Indian range.
