The covid-19 pandemic, declared a health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO), is the global health crisis that has defined our time and one of the greatest challenges we have faced.
Unfortunately, many of us have witnessed families that have fallen apart due to the dire health situation. The loss of a loved one will always be a difficult thing to deal with, but when it comes to losing the only three people in your life, it is heartbreaking. Unfortunately, this happened to Rocío Barberá, a 32-year-old woman, who lost her parents in the second wave of covid-19 in Chile.
On April 19, 2021, her mother was hospitalized for covid-19 and died a month later. Unfortunately, a few days later, her father was also a victim of the coronavirus. As if that were not enough, life surprised Rocío again, in November, when her 12-year-old son, who suffered from cerebral palsy since her birth, also died.
From living with the three of them, who were my reason for existing, I was left alone, they were three very hard blows, difficult to bear; I felt that I no longer had anyone to continue fighting for.
Despite her great pain, Rocío took the necessary strength and decided to resume her career as a Mathematics Teacher, at the Institute of Higher Education in Maipú, Chile, and managed to graduate on December 17.
Rocío told how much she had dreamed of the moment when she left the exam and hugged her parents, thanked them and gave them the joy of the goal accomplished, since they had been her pillars to be able to raise her little son.
With my degree in hand, I project myself looking for work in the educational field, although I will also venture into programming.
Undoubtedly, last year turned out to be a real challenge for the admirable Rocío, who despite her loss, with her great optimism, has managed to get ahead. We are sure that her three angels are as proud of her as we all are. Congratulations, Rocio!
