Russian Roman Abramovich’s era at Chelsea FC is officially over and the London club now has new owners.
It all started with the war between Russia and Ukraine, which occurred last February and continues to cause deaths in that region of the world.
The blockades and sanctions against the administration led by Vladimir Putin came from all sides, being, to date, the most sanctioned country in history.
As a whole, until March of this year they added more than 300 companies that, since the beginning of the invasion, have decided to suspend their services in Russiaeither temporarily or permanently.
In fact, Russia overtook Iran on the list of the most sanctioned countries in history. The Asian country had 3,616 active sanctions by the United States, the United Nations Organization (UN), the European Union (EU), as well as by Australia, Canada, India and Israel. Today, that number has already been surpassed due to the invasion of Ukraine.

Soccer, in that sense, was no exception, as several measures were taken as a result of what happened between Russia and Ukraine. To mention an example, the UEFA Champions League final, which was to be played in St. Petersburg, changed venue and was held in the city of Paris.
Secondly, the London club, Chelsea FC, was one of the teams that suffered the consequences of the wardue to the fact that its previous owner, Roman Abramovich, announced that he would sell the club in order to allocate the funds to help Ukraine.
“I would like to respond to all the speculation in the media in recent days regarding my leadership as owner of Chelsea. As I have said before. I have always made decisions with the best interests of the club close to my heart. In the current situation I have made the decision to sell the club,” the Russian said in a statement.
Let us remember that it was in 2003 when Abramovich became the owner of the “blues”, a team that he bought for 100 million euros, a team with which he managed to lift 18 titles, including the UEFA Champions League and more recently the Club World Cup. .
Today, finally, it has been announced that Chelsea FC has new owners, a team for which nearly five billion euros have been paid.
The news was shared through the official networks of the Blues, where it was announced that the new owners a consortium headed by Todd Boehlyco-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.

According to what has been disclosed in various media, it is the the highest amount paid in history for a sports team. “We are honored to become the new custodians of Chelsea Football Club. We are 100% committed, in every minute of every game”, declared the American investor.
After the news was announced, the British government will have to lift the sanction against the London club so that, for the next season, they can incorporate and sell players, renew contracts, sell tickets and, of course, merchandising.
