Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano and co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain, got into a war of words with the Ethereum developers over implementing proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus through merging.
On Sunday, the Web3 investor Evan Van Ness shared an unpopular opinion stating that the Ethereum Fusion could have been launched sooner. Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, agreed with Van Ness’s comments and said that they should have implemented a chain-based PoS similar to NXT.
Hoskinson joined the conversation stating that the Ethereum developers should have implemented the snow white protocol to ensure faster migration to proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus.
You should have just implemented snow white with Elaine’s help. It would have saved you a heck of a lot of pain and effort.

Snow White is one of the first protocols to provide formal end-to-end security testing for a PoS system and a protocol Hoskinson has championed for years. However, Hoskinson’s response opened up a can of worms, which later led to a heated debate between the Cardano founder and Van Ness along with other Ethereum developers.
Hoskinson stated that his ideas regarding the technical updates on the Ethereum network since 2014 still hold up better than what the Ethereum network has updated after the merger. Van Ness quickly remembered to Hoskinson who was fired from Ethereum within six months due to his bad behavior and lack of any significant technical contribution.
Previously, Hoskinson accused Ethereum developers in a tweet thread of ignoring Ouroboros (a secure PoS blockchain and the first protocol based on peer-reviewed research) for the past five years. He also claimed that the current version of his PoS update with custodial staking is bad design.
The developer of Ethereum Hudson Jameson criticized Hoskinson’s claims about the implementation of the Ouroboros protocol. He even said that Ethereum developers disliked Cardano mainly because of (Hoskinson’s) “attitude and actions like Cardano’s face”.
I guess Charles forgot about his Reddit history and how much he shit on Ethereum as he was building Cardano. Additionally, Vitalik did review Ouroboros a while ago.
Ethereum devs aren’t wanting to look at Cardano because of your attitude and actions as the face of Cardano. https://t.co/QB3QYRKkm5 pic.twitter.com/daX56FfwGv

I guess Charles forgot about his history on Reddit and how much he shitted on Ethereum while building Cardano. Also, Vitalik checked Ouroboros a long time ago. Ethereum developers don’t want to pay attention to Cardano because of your attitude and actions like Cardano’s face.
Jameson reminded Hoskinson of his mistreatment of the Ethereum Classic community and asked him to stop playing the victim.
Hoskinson is known for his controversial views on his old project, and the war of words between the two communities is nothing new. However, as both blockchains are undergoing a key upgrade to their network, the recent exchange between the two parties highlights the disconnect between the blockchain communities.
