Manzana may have introduced the new Apple Silicon M3 with a set of MacBook Pro laptops. And many expect a MacBook Air to launch in the first half of 2024. But it might be worth waiting a little longer to get a truly revolutionary MacBook.
New details leaked by tipster @Tech_Reve they suggest that Apple will finally add a touch screen to the MacBook. Despite being a common feature on high-end Windows laptops, it has been rejected by Tim Cook and his team for macOS computers.
A MacBook… Like an iPad?
Previous reports have mentioned test units with this technology, discussing a new design for the touch screen. It is expected to follow Apple’s signature slim style, thanks to Samsung Display’s Y-OCTA hardware and LG’s TOE, integrating the display and touch layer into a single unit.
With the convergence between macOS and iPadOS, developers can create applications compatible with both systems. However, the hardware limitations become more apparent: While the iPad lacks a built-in physical keyboard, the MacBook is limited by the absence of a touchscreen.
This addition could solve Apple’s specific problem by making the MacBook more like the iPad, although this remains to be confirmed until the expected launch in 2026.
