Work with office software is the order of the day, text editors or applications focused on spreadsheets are present on most computers. For this we use specific programs such as those that are part of the Office suite, among which we find Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
In fact, in these lines we are going to focus on what could be considered the greatest benchmark in this software sector, we are referring to the Word text editor. This powerful tool belonging to Microsoft has been accompanying us for many years, offering increasingly advanced functions and in keeping with the times. One of the main objectives of most of the programs that we find here is to increase our productivity. For this, they propose a series of functionalities with which they facilitate this type of work.
Here we can not only work with texts, but also in our documents we can add graphics, images or even videos. In these lines we want to focus on something very useful as well as simple but that not everyone knows. Specifically, we refer to the possibility of change uppercase to lowercase and vice versa in this publisher. Who hasn’t sometimes received texts that, for whatever reason, are written entirely in capital letters?
This is something that can be turned into something inconvenient to make it something more readable and formal. Rewriting all the content would be a bit cumbersome and annoying, but Word can help us a lot. Specifically, we refer to the possibility of change from uppercase to lowercase in seconds from the program.
Convert text from uppercase to lowercase in Word
With this, what we want to tell you is that, if we find ourselves before a document completely in capital letters, or a part of it, we are going to format it correctly. For this we will make use of a useful text editor function that will greatly simplify these conversion tasks. The first thing we must do to carry out this change that we are commenting on is to mark all the text that we want to convert.
Whether it is a word, a paragraph, several pages, we can select all of it with the pointer of the mouse, then we go to the option of Word Start menu. Next, in the section called source we find a button represented by an uppercase A and a lowercase one that gives way to a drop-down list. Here we will have the opportunity to select the option called Lowercase.
At that moment all the text that we had previously marked will automatically convert to lowercase. But at the same time, Word offers us other additional functions that complement the one we have just seen.
Other functions to convert texts in the editor
We tell you all this because converting all that text mentioned above to lowercase solves the problem for us, but only partially. So that the different phrases that make up that selection are correctly formatted, we go back to the same drop-down list.
What we are now looking for is that the beginning of the phrases that are part of the selection begin with capital letters. Therefore, here we only have to select the option sentence type. In the same way, in the case that we want to convert a document completely or just a part in uppercase, we click on the option with that same name from the aforementioned list.
