Capcom prefers to wash its hands of future controversies over the changes from the original.
One of the star ads of the past State of Play due Resident Evil 4, but what happened with Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020), Capcom refuses to officially call the new Resident Evil 4 a remake. Despite the fact that in essence it is basically a remake of the original classic with new technologies and improved mechanics, the Japanese company prefers to use another term.
As recently shared as part of a press release, Capcom avoids describing Resident Evil 4 as a remake, but as a “new awakening”. It’s not entirely clear what connotations this has that won’t match those of a remake, or a reimagining, but it clearly tries get rid of future controversies about whether or not it follows the story and events of the original 2005 game to the letter.
Whether it’s a remake, a reimagining, or simply a “new awakening,” Capcom confirmed shortly after the announcement of this Resident Evil 4 that it will have story changes from the original. Perhaps, beyond looking for a darker, adult aestheticlike the previous ones, Capcom thinks majorly change the plot of the game, so that remake would no longer hit so much.

Resident Evil 4 is scheduled for release on March 23, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, nothing from the old generation of consoles. Although that’s what they said with Resident Evil Village at the beginning.
More Resident Evil
Resident Evil is in fashion and its creators are going to take advantage of it to make the most of it, as they have always done. Mioentras on television Netflix shared a new trailer for the Resident Evil series. In video games, Resident Evill Village will have a version for PS VR2, although it does not have a specific date. Igaul there is no trace of the supposed DLC that Capcom has in development.
