Canva bets on Artificial Intelligence
As part of its first decade and the goal of being an important part of the most important companies, the company announced this Wednesday a new platform called Magic Studiobased on generative AI in a movement that would seem natural, since it is a tool that proposed technology as a collaborator for the processes.
Among the tools of this new platform are Magic Switch, which turns a presentation into an executive summary or creates a blog post from a brainboard, and translates it into multiple languages in the process. Another element is Magic Mediawhich converts text to images or videos from an image or text.
The function Magic Morph transforms word and shape designs into new colors, textures, patterns and styles with a prompt, while Magic Grab allows you to select and separate any subject from a photo so you can edit it, reposition it or change its size.
Magic Expand perfect photos after taking them or even convert a vertical shot to horizontal by imagining what is left outside the frame to fill it with content. Likewise, the company said that it will have applications in its marketplace with access to other AIs, such as Dall-E, Imagen by Google, MurfAI and Soundraw, among others.
While there is fear around the use of AI, Adams highlights that it will be one of the fundamental technologies of work. “We believe it has incredible potential to empower office workers who do not have design training (…) AI will be able to really boost their productivity and solve real problems for them.”
According to data from a survey conducted by Morning Consult of marketing professionals in different countries around the world, including Mexico, generative AI is quickly becoming a staple of the modern workplace, with 97% of creative leaders feeling comfortable with its rise and 72% already consider it an essential part of their creative tools.
For the Canva executive, as new and better ways of doing things are introduced through technology, more opportunities open up for people by discovering new ways to use them.
“I think the beauty of human creativity is that it is constantly evolving and adapting,” he concludes. “Creativity now is very different from 100 years ago. We are always discovering new tools to express the ways we are human, to express our ideas, send different messages in different formats and engage others. “That is why we believe that AI is just the next step in that evolution of human creativity.”
