‘Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ is undoubtedly one of the best video games in recent times, and perhaps in history. For many of us who have been able to play it, a large part of its charm lies in the full of life and color from its huge map.
Many fans think that this Zelda’s Hyrule is one of the most beautiful worlds in video games, but this particular fan wanted to do something special with it, something that we can enjoy without even having the game: an interactive map of Hyrule with a 3D view in the style of Google Maps Street View.
Zelda Breath of the Wild Street View
The name of the website is Zelda Breath of the Wild Street View. On his YouTube channel called Nassim’s Software, this computer science student has shared the project and described how he has achieved it. There he explains in detail the tools he used.
Basically, Nassim downloaded the Wii U emulator Cemu and installed a series of mods that let you play ‘Breath of the Wild’ in first person, in addition to eliminating all the elements of the interface.
With this done, he set about taking a series of screenshots at 180 degrees horizontally and 45 degrees vertically, to achieve a complete image that can be rotated the mouse for a 360 degree Street View view.
The result is not perfect, it is far from it and artifacts are noticeable in most of the photos, but it is still a project more than beautiful and interesting and in which you can see that a lot of work was put into.
Nassim published the project only at the end of July, and since then he has been adding more locations to the drawn map, which is a creation published by another user on imgur. The blue points that we see there are those with a 360º view for now, but their creator invites you to share your own locations to add to the map, and provides you with the instructions to do so in his video.
This has the potential to become a great community project for fans of the game, as long as Nintendo doesn’t show up annoyingly and demand that it be removed from the face of the internet.
