WhatsApp has a traffic of 2 billion people monthly: Statista.
In 2014, Facebook acquired the mobile app for $19 billion.
The instant messaging platform is among the apps Mexico favorites.
WhatsApp It is one of the most used messaging applications in the world, so it is common for users to wonder if they have been blocked by someone on the platform. If you suspect that you have been blocked on this social network, here are five signs that could indicate it.
- No profile picture or status: One of the first signs that you might have been blocked on WhatsApp is that the person in question no longer has a profile picture or status visible to you. When someone blocks you, it’s common for them to hide this information so you can’t access it.
- Undelivered messages: Another indication that you have been blocked is that the messages you send to the person in question are not delivered. Instead of seeing the typical “double check” indicating that the message has been received and read, you will only see a single check, which suggests that the message has not been delivered successfully.
- Unanswered Calls: If you try to make a voice or video call to the person you suspect has blocked you and get no answer, it could be an indication of a block. In these cases, the call will simply not connect or will be disconnected immediately.
- You don’t appear on their contact list: If you were previously part of the person’s contact list and suddenly you’re no longer, it’s likely that you’ve been blocked. If you can’t see their profile information or their last login, that’s a strong indication of being blocked.
- Changes in delivery ticks: Normally, when you send a message in WhatsApp, delivery ticks turn from gray to blue once the recipient has received and read the message. However, if you have been blocked, the delivery ticks will remain greyed out, indicating that the message has not been delivered successfully.
It is important to note that these signals are not conclusive and there could be other reasons behind these behaviors on WhatsApp. The best way to confirm if you’ve been blocked is to contact the person through other means or a mutual contact to get more information.
Until now, WhatsApp offered options to mute notifications for individual or group chats, but there was no specific option for incoming calls from unknown senders. This new function responds to the need of users to filter.
Lastly, if you suspect that you have been blocked on WhatsApp, pay attention to signs like missing profile picture and status, undelivered messages, unanswered calls, absence in the contact list and changes in delivery ticks. However, it is advisable to check the situation directly to get a definitive answer.
