Mexico returns to face-to-face classes after almost two years of pandemic as of this 2022-2023 cycle.
232 thousand 966 campuses throughout Mexico will open their doors to receive more than 29 million students.
About one million 225 thousand 580 teachers will return to face-to-face classes after the virtual experience.
The health contingency deprived face-to-face classes to many students for more than two years, now, back to school for me will come true for more than 232 thousand schools throughout the country.
Let’s remember that, since March 2020, classes were suspended for the entire country due to health contingency. However, the price for underestimating the scope of Covid-19 caused everything to stop for a long time.
Even though the previous school year achieved the goal of opening the facilities of more than 196,524 schools throughout the country, now there is talk of 232,966 campuses throughout Mexico. This means that while last cycle more than 24 million students returned to face-to-face classes, this time the figure would reach almost 30 million, managing to become a historical fact.
Although the virus does not seem to have stopped, there is talk of an improvement, and for many months the country has been at a green traffic light due to the contingency. However, what does it mean that this is considered the first post-pandemic truly face-to-face cycle?
Back to school 2022-2023; The first post-pandemic cycle?
The first recorded case of coronavirus in Mexico was detected on February 27, 2020, in Mexico City. It took almost two years for everything to return to relatively normal, from that March 30, 2020 in which it was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation that the country was in seclusion until further notice.
The conferences that featured the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatellbecame recurrent and, against all odds, digitization took part in everyone’s life.
The internet and virtual class platforms had the greatest and best possible use and new trends were generated. Likewise, digital knowledge increased in Mexico, and the platforms of e-learning became more important than ever, increasing the use of this industry by 16 percent.
In fact, according to data shared by the Statista platformSome 49 percent of students globally said they had been enrolled in an online course during the first 12 months of the lockdown. Also, near the 95 percent of the first students who went through this experience indicated that they were completely satisfied with education and learning through this medium.
In fact, according to a study based on global market estimates, thanks to the use of digital students, online learning and teaching platforms managed to capture a total value of 101 billion dollars in 2019.
Digital knowledge also increased then, achieving as told by Forbes information retention rates between 25 percent and 60 percent.
Connectivity in Mexico was also a fundamental issue, because although internet coverage was not of particular interest to the public initiative until before the pandemic, since its arrival the creation of a spectrum that would cover almost the entire country was promised. , allowing that by 2024 more than 90 percent of the population will have internet.
Now that the return to classes will be face-to-face, this digital knowledge will once again be replaced by first-hand knowledge, at a point where, precisely yesterday, August 28, the lowest numbers of infections and deaths of the entire fifth wave.
However, the decision to return to face-to-face classes has not been easy, because to get to this point it was necessary to experience as a country the registration of more than 7 million 14 thousand 510 positive cases of Covid-19 and 329 thousand 390 deaths from it.
The SEP has expressed itself before this, noting that for the first time in nearly two years, there is safe back-to-school ground for the more than 29 million students to return to class. Of these, 24 million 479 thousand 952 belong to basic education; five million 244 thousand 352 to upper secondary education; and, finally, 124,742 normal schools.
On the other hand, one of the first to be vaccinated, the teaching staff, will return in its entirety to the classrooms to more than one million 225 thousand 580.
Although this return could raise doubts for many, the truth is that it is an unprecedented event and that it fills people with hope, that children will finally be able to count on physical contact in the classroom; nevertheless, having entered virtuality also shows the importance of generating a technological education, which should not be missed.
