The Hood-Nic Foundation, organizer of the outdoor exhibition, was “shocked” by the tragedy, which, according to a representative of the association, was aimed at promoting non-violence.
Wallace McGhee, one of the organizers, told local television station KARK that the event has been going on for 16 years without incident.
“The main problem for all of us was getting the kids out of the way, getting the people out of the way” in the area of the shooting, he explained.
Police spokesmen said that there were children among the injured, according to a local affiliate of the CBS network.
