For some years a rumor has circulated that Manzana I would be working in a iPhone folding screen and just like an iPad tablet with the same qualities.
In fact, this device has been known for some months by the informal name of iPadFold. Frankly, there is little chance that this will be the final name of the gadget, but it makes it clear that all signs point to something along these lines being prepared by the guys from Cupertino.
The strongest reports began around May 2021where the renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipated that Apple would be planning to launch its first iPhone with a folding screen by 2023.
Even at the time the boy reached the point of advancing the preliminary technical specifications of this iPhone. Where the screen would have a QHD + resolution, with a length of 8 inches diagonally.
Since then it has been, more or less, the general convention among followers of rumors regarding future Apple releases.
But now a new report has emerged that seems to point to a completely different direction and logical sequence, which would not be relatively bad.
Apple would bet first on the iPad Fold before a folding iPhone
In an interview for CNBCBen Wood, Head of Research at CCS Insight, has commented on the details of its most recent annual report of predictions for the mobile industry.
Where the specialist points out that it is quite likely that Apple will launch an iPad with a folding screen by the year 2024, predicting that the guys from Cupertino would begin to experiment with folding technology shortly, but not with a smartphone:
“Right now, it doesn’t make sense for Apple to make a foldable iPhone. We think they’ll avoid that trend and probably start testing the waters with a foldable iPad.
A foldable iPhone will be a super high risk for Apple. First of all, it would have to be incredibly expensive in order not to cannibalize existing models.”
Wood estimates that a foldable iPhone could cost close to $2,500 at best, making it much more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max that currently retails for $1,599.
All these statements harmonize with a relatively recent report from February 2022, where it was stated that the company would change the order of its launch projects to present its first folding iPhone until 2025.
So now it looks like we’ll see a flexible iPad first.
