The console market is a very difficult market to conquer. It could be argued that even the world’s largest companies would be brave, if not a little naive, to try to take on the likes of PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo, when even the most recent of them has more than 20 years of experience. On the other hand, there was a time when Xbox was just arriving on the scene, and it hasn’t fared badly.
Now, A report assures that Apple is considering entering the console market. Windows Central’s Jez Corden discussed Apple’s possible intentions during an episode of the Xbox Two podcast. “I heard a long time ago that Apple was exploring the possibility of making a video game consoleCorden said.I don’t know if it’s going to be a VR thing or a metaverse or something, but some of the engineers that Apple has stolen from Microsoft was because they wanted to explore making their own console.“.
It should be noted that Corden also highlighted on the podcast that he has not seen any concrete evidence that Manzana I’m still creating a console. These reports are things you’ve heard from insiders, but haven’t seen any supporting documentation.
Large companies, and in particular Manzana, they always work on projects, sometimes as big as a console, only to decide later that it doesn’t work or that it’s not worth it. The fact that Apple has hired people from Xbox certainly suggests that it is expanding its games division. A logical step, although very big and far in that process, would be to create a console that could rival the systems already established in the market.
The contributions of Manzana to the video game industry have been relatively small so far, at least compared to the creation of its own console. Yes, there is Apple Arcade, a subscription service that gives you access to a vast library of games, some of which are exclusive. In fact, you can play Apple Arcade through the Apple TV, so it’s already kind of a console, but not quite.
