Last year, Apple launched a repair program for all those AirPods Pro affected by a sound problem. Specifically, a “limited” number of models manufactured before October 2020 could be affected by “clicking or static sounds”, as well as bugs related to active noise cancellation. The repair program ended this October. Apple, however, has decided to expand it.
Therefore, those users who have AirPods Pro and have noticed problems in audio quality or noise cancellation, can request a free replacement through Apple technical service or through an authorized repair service until October 2022. Apple applies the program to all affected AirPods Pro for a period of three years from the date of sale. Therefore, the headphones do not need to have a valid warranty.
The company, yes, examine the headphones to check if they have one of the two problems that are described on its website. If they are found to be suitable for the program, they will replace the affected headphones. On the other hand, the charging case will remain the same, since it does not present manufacturing faults.

However, they could come with better sound quality, new technology and health-related features, as the latest rumors detail. Pending this high-end revamp, the company could announce the third-generation AirPods imminently. A cheaper model without active noise cancellation, but with a similar look to the AirPods Pro, support for Dolby Atmos and spatial audio, and better sound and battery.
