Another Tinder scammer has been “uncovered”, a man who goes by the name of Richard John Dexter and who has been sentenced to four years in jail.
Tinder is, in the field of dating applications, the most popular today, above platforms such as Badoo, OkCupid, Momo, Paris, among others.
It has not been easy to adjust to life in these almost two years since the Covid-19 appeared and, as we have seen, people are eager to get out and start living again, just as they did before the pandemic.
That is why, at present, communication between people has been greatly reduced and for those who are constantly meeting new people, this period is, without a doubt, one of the most complicated.
For them, Tinder has once again become the option to meet new people, because, since its launch, the application was made for that, thinking of those users who know more about digital platforms and socializing in a virtual environment.
Whether to find a sentimental partner or a mere casual encounter, dating apps have been very useful for users. In fact, data from Statista show that dating platforms would exceed 400 million users in 2022.
Within this framework, Tinder is, as we mentioned almost at the beginning, the most popular platform in the world. This is demonstrated by a graph from Statista, which states that the application accumulated more than 78 million downloads in 2021, according to the database of AppMagic.
If we add to this the boom that the platform has found in recent days thanks to the premiere of The Tinder Scammerthe Netflix movie, its numbers are likely to grow considerably as, once again, the app has put itself on the map.
In this context, a few days ago the case of another Tinder scammer was revealed, one who stays away from the media spotlight, but who drew attention for his way of operating.
His name is Richard John Dexter and he is 38 years old, lives in Highland Terrace, in the United Kingdom, and it should be noted that he has been sentenced to four years in prison for defrauding a woman of 170 thousand euros.
In fact, Dexter himself pleaded guilty in Portsmouth Crown Court to seven counts of fraud, all committed between May 1, 2015 and May 24, 2017 against the same woman, whom he met through Tinder in the year 2015.
Information from different media reports that John Dexter “manipulated and tricked” the woman into making a series of payments totaling 121,000 pounds (144,000 euros), money that he allegedly used to “pay for various patent catalogs and pay an engineering company for the development of mechanisms for a very specific biopharmaceutical equipment”.
Later, the affected company paid another 20,000 pounds sterling to Dexter for the “development of additional equipment and legal fees related to the patents”. Now, Richard John Dexter has been sentenced to four years in prison.
