The chocolate and confectionery industry in Mexico
Mexico is considered one of the “sweetest” countries in the world. In fact, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) the gross production of the chocolate and confectionery industry grew remarkably at an average annual rate of 8.2 percent between 2013 and 2018.
However, due to the impact of the health crisis caused by Covid-19, the chocolate and confectionery industry presented severe drops in the value of production during April and May 2020. Despite this, after those months there was a recovery that, until the latest recorded data for 2021, have even managed to exceed what was seen during March 2019, shortly before the global lockdown.
In short, Mexico is among the main exporting countries of some chocolate products. Likewise, the presence of other international brands in Mexico is explained by the profitability that the Mexican market represents for said industry.
For example, one of the most present brands, in addition to Carlos V and Turín, is Kinder, made by the Ferrero house, whose last data presented in the billing of the fiscal year show a billing of €10.3 billion with an increase of 8.2 percent compared to the previous year, which reported a consolidated billing of €9.5 billion.

brands like Barcelona, SabritasRed Bull, LALA and La Costeña are some of those that have been analyzed in their videos under the same concept: to make known how harmful or beneficial a product can be as opposed to a second of the same type.
Recently, the user shared a video where he talks about two of the most present brands in the chocolate industry in the world: Turin Y Carlos Vfrom Nestle.
In said video he compares these brands under certain parameters, taking into account the price, the saturated fats, the amount of product and the sugar. Although the contest was very disputed, the winner of the battle was Carlos V, being the price factor the one that became decisive.

Despite this decision, many users agree that sugar is an even more important factor, because while Carlos V has almost two grams, Turin has no sugar at all. Thus, Although the content creator gave the victory to the first brand, it is the second that has taken the public’s opinion.
